Have you ever wondered why you can move your arm? Or why your organs work? The answer is quite simple. Your brain does all this work for you. The brain is one of the most important organs. It controls the body’s nervous system and functions.
Well, what is the nervous system? The nervous system is a network that sends messages back and forth from the brain to all the different parts of your body. The nerves in your body are just texting back and forth with your brain, about what is happening. For example, if you touch freshly baked, hot cookies the nerves in your skin will send a message of pain to your brain. Your brain will then tell your body how to react. You will immediately take your hand off of those hot cookies. Your brain can tell your body to do just about anything!
Along with all this, your brain controls all your body’s functions with its three main parts. The cerebrum is the biggest part of your brain. You use it when you are thinking hard or when you want use your arms and legs, like you do while dancing. The cerebrum controls your thoughts, movements, words, emotions, memory, and reasoning or how you think. Without your cerebrum you wouldn’t be able to solve math problems or even kick a soccer ball.

The cerebellum is another important part of your brain. Its job is to coordinate muscle movement or to make your muscles work together while still keeping you balanced. Your cerebellum allows you to move around and keep your balance, so you don’t fall over.

Lastly, the brainstem is the part of the brain that performs functions in order for you to stay alive. For example, the brain stem is in charge of controlling your breathing, blood circulation, digestive system, and many more things. Without the brainstem, you wouldn’t be alive!
